Weird error when upgrading to 15.2E

Hi, folks.

When upgrading a Cat3750X-48T-S to 15.2.2Ex or even 15.2.3Ex each reboot shows some error messages when checking

the boot via console:

New switch never plugged into any network or ever been configured, just updated IOS and I get same message.

Mine is on a WS-C3750X-24T-S running 15.2(3)E1 (C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M) c3750e-universalk9-mz.152-3.E1.bin.

I get the exact same error output on initial boot after reload.  It's obviously related to autoconf, the switch acts as if it is trying to apply the following configuration from an auto config template, even though we aren't using that feature.

Switch#show auto configuration template builtin
Template Name: IP_PHONE_INTERFACE_TEMPLATE
Template Definition:switchport mode access
switchport block unicast
switchport port-security maximum 3
switchport port-security maximum 2 vlan access
switchport port-security
switchport port-security aging time 2
switchport port-security violation restrict
switchport port-security aging type inactivity
load-interval 30
storm-control broadcast level pps 1k
storm-control multicast level pps 2k
storm-control action trap
spanning-tree portfast
spanning-tree bpduguard enable
ip dhcp snooping limit rate 15
srr-queue bandwidth share 1 30 35 5
priority-queue out
mls qos trust cos
service-policy input AUTOCONF-SRND4-CISCOPHONE-POLICY
exit

Im have the same issue on 3560 with 15.2. Have you found a workaround or fix for this?

Thanks

Danny

We opened a TAC case and they came back with this:

Hello Team,

I was able to replicate this problem, I enabled autoconfig and then disabled it, after the reload I received same errors. I found this is a defect on the software that affects only new IOS releases on train 15.2E. I successfully downgraded the software to a different train:15.0(2)SE6/ 15.0(2)SE8 and the errors disappeared.

 https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=282979361&flowid=2627&softwareid=280805680&release=15.0.2-SE8&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=MD&reltype=latest

This appears to be only a cosmetic issue as the running config does not show any of those outputs.

However if you would like to remove this errors you would need to downgrade the software to a different train.

Let me know if you have any doubt. Thanks!

Yeah, right. Thank god there is TAC .... !!!

All this we knew already ....

Downgrading to 15.0(x)SE is not an option, because the reason we chose 15.2.xE is that it supports IBNS 2.0 !!! 15.0(x) doesn't !!!

Cosmetic or not, since IBNS 2.0 does not work correctly in the 15.2.x releases either (see https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12597491/ibns-20-interface-template-does-not-work-expected-ios-152xe), this bug should be fixed in upcoming releases ....

Hi all,

There is an internal bug that was identify identified and will be fixed in 15.2(4)E1, which should be available by the end of the year, it is known that the version 15.2(2)E3 will present the errors on boot up but the lost config issue is not seen.

The errors should be just cosmetic.

Regards,

Jose

I may be nit picking semantics here, but the original copy of the post from the engineer found the commands not in running config.

What about derived config ? Or was that the meaning?

Thanks,

Shawn

I have same problem but in my case prompt stops on "% Invalid input detected at '^' marker" and cannot access to the switch.

By the way, running IOS is 15.2(2.7)E

Gorka.
