Hi,
Can anyone help me on a wired problem i'm facing with a 2811 router. It has got everything OK, but the interfaces are not pingable even with the basic configuration. I can assure you that the configuration is perfectly OK. There is no problem with the routing issue or anything.
Router can ping its own interface. When connected to the switch, it shows the interface is up, line protocol is up. Should there be any issue with the hardware? Please guide.
Regards,
Sagar

Hi,
Since you are sure about the basic configuration, have you checked the speed settings of the interfaces?
As far as I can see, the router is connected to the switch but you can't get a reply when pinging it from the switch. Is this what you mean?
Best regards,
Giorgos

Hi,
As said, please check the speed and duplex settings of both router and switch end interfaces.
What is that switch to which you connected the router?
Do you have any Vlans defined in the router? If yes configure the particular default gateway in the switch.

Hi Giorgos & Naidu,
Thanks for your reply. We have checked the speed & duplex setup for the router with the switch port. It didn't help us. Also the router doesn't have any other vlan configured.
I have attached the txt capture of the device. One thing to mention -
*Apr 24 10:56:47.107: IP ARP: sent req src 10.11.4.1 001b.2a9a.8e01, dst 10.11.4.2 0000.0000.0000 FastEthernet0/1.
Please check above ping reply from the router, destination MAC address is invalid.
Any other suggestion is much appreciated.

Sagar

Hi Sagar,
Could you please post the result of the "sh arp" command of the router as well?
Thank you,
Giorgos

Hi Giorgos & Naidu,
I have checked with the router and found that it doesn't show any arp entry or adjacent entry information. For your information, few days back the router had power supply issue and we repaired the unit. Not quite sure, if these has been any connection with that; but the router doesn't have any power related issue now.
The debug log is attached herewith. Please help.
Regards,
Sagar

Have you verified your host NIC configuration? The router config looks simple enough for you to have no problems. Go over that once more and see if you can find anything there (fat fingered config, host Firewall, etc.).
