Im in a networking class at my High School and were trying to do this
Xbox360-------->switch--------->Router--------->Switch-----Xbox360
But we cant figure out what the protocols we need to tell the router. I think were using the Cisco 2500 series router

X-Box talk TCP/IP (I think). I hope your 2500 is not a Token Ring-only interface. What switch do you have? What are you gents trying to achieve? Do you want both X-Box to have different IP addresses (hence the presence of a router)? Has anyone started with connecting the X-Box to the same switch and assigning each of them the same IP addresses from the same IP subnet?

well back in December we hooked 4 xboxs to a switch and we subneted everyone and it worked but last year a group of kids before us tried to have a router in between and they couldn't figure out why they weren't communicating

Same 2500 router and different IP subnets? Off the top of my head, the 2500 can't do Dot1Q trunking.
