I can't seem to find the definitive answer for this.
I've asked around and some people say the ESW 500 series (but that looks gui based to me) as well as
WS-CE500G-12TC (but this looks gui based as well).
I want to force myself to practice more IOS commands but use it within my home network.
8port gig switches now are sooooooooooooooooooo cheap. $25 they go for.
I could buy a dirt cheap one for that but I won't improve my vlan management / STP skills on IOS.
Why do I have a bad feeling it's gonna cost me over $500?
Again, I just have three requirements:
1) 8 port (or above)
2) IOS configuration
3) Cheap

None exists now that is cheap.
Wait for the new compact switches to be released, maybe they won't be too expensive.

I was afraid you would say that.
Nevertheless, what is the cheapest model that fulfills requirements 1 & 2?
My friend said it was the 8port 2960G
ws-c2960g-8tc-l
At the very least, can we agree that is the cheapest 8port gigabit switch that's uses IOS?
Also, what timeline will the new "compact switches" be avail? What model will they be called?
TIA!
