Hi, I require to trunk VLANs over 1001 to a new cisco 2690 switch. My concern here is that these switches only support VLANs in the range of 1-1001. Could anyone please confirm if this is the case?
The part number of the switch is WS-C2960-24TT-L
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the reply, looks like as long as the switc is in vtp transparent mode vlans 1-4096 will be supported. Thanks.

hi,
Yes you are right. If you want to use extended vlans in your 2960 you have to use VTP trnsperent mode.Because extended vlans are not stored in the vlab.dat file and can not be advertised in VTP advertisements.
AFAIK 2960 supports (in transperent mode) 1-4094 vlans but maximum no. vlans configured is 255. 0& 4095 are reserved for system use.
HTH,
regards,
shri :)
