Hi Abhijith

uplinks bring your to the next level of the network like the linls between access level to ditriobution level and the the links to the core switches are all uplinks , usually there trunks in lan but can be routed links either depending on design

Infrastructure links, that carry traffic "down" toward the edge might be called "downlinks", the converse are "uplinks".  (NB: the same link is both an uplink and downlink, which depends on your reference switch port.)

On some switches, some ports are designated "uplink" ports, regardless of how they are logically used in the topology.  Such ports might be "special" in that they might support higher bandwidth and/or better internal forwarding performance than other ports, might provide more buffering, might support multiple media or non-copper media, might provide a different default for MDI/MDI-X and/or can select MDI vs. MDI-X, etc.
