In a 6513 core when i gave 'sh version'it shows the following
114 Virtual Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interfaces
146 Gigabit Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interfaces
here what does the 114 vitual ethernet interface mean ?. Could you please explain.

Hi
These will be the SVI (Switched Virtual Interfaces) you have configured on your switch ie
Interface Vlan 100
To see a list of them run the command :-
sh ip int | inc Vlan

How many vlan interfaces do you have configured on your switch ie. if you do a "sh ip interface brief | include Vlan" how many are there.

Hello Padma,
in this count of gigabit port are counted also the ports that connect a service module to the backplane
see for example
32 Virtual Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interfaces
96 FastEthernet/IEEE 802.3 interfaces
36 Gigabit Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interfaces
1 Ten Gigabit Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interface
in this chassis I don't have any tengiga external port the tengiga is the port of ACE module to backplane
And I have only 24 external GE ports
3 8 8 port 1000mb ethernet WS-X6408-GBIC
7 16 SFM-capable 16 port 10/100/1000mb RJ45 WS-X6516-GE-TX
but I have 4 GE ports between CSM and backplane
and 6 GE ports between FWSM and backplane
262 Po262(SU) - Gi6/1(P) Gi6/2(P) Gi6/3(P) Gi6/4(P)
271 Po271(SU) - Gi2/1(P) Gi2/2(P) Gi2/3(P) Gi2/4(P)
Gi2/5(P) Gi2/6(P)
2 6 Firewall Module WS-SVC-FWM-1
6 4 SLB Application Processor Complex WS-X6066-SLB-APC
the number of Virtual Ethernet is that of the Vlan interface
in your case it should mean you have defined 114 SVI vlan L3 interfaces
Hope to help
Giuseppe
