I assume that it must be RSTP which has the highest degree of compatibility with any other STP flavours.
Am I right ? I couldn't find anything in the documentation and I do not have access to a switch running MST

Hi Cristian,
Yes, your assumption is quite right. The IST instance is actually RSTP instance that extends the CST inside the MST instance such that the region appears as one virtual CST bridge to the outside world.
