When is a host, not a host?

Every device connected to a network is a node. Wikipedia says that every host is a node. And that every host is a computer on a network.

I want to know if a network printer is also a host, or just a node? And while on this subject, can it still be called a peripheral?

Node is a more generic grouping of network devices. A host is a node, but a node is not necessarily a host; see where i'm going?

I would say a printer is a node if it has a jet-direct card and/or it is directly wired onto the LAN, not a peripheral.
