You would not open the bin file directly on a Mac. You would install the ASDM image on the ASA and direct it to use that.
When you then go the the ASA admin page (via https), you should see the option to either download the installer (don't do that) or run as a Java applet. Choose the latter and it should download a Java archive (.jar file). You should be able to get off the ground (assuming you have Java installed on your Mac) with that.

There's not a native OS X ASDM application.
You have to use the Java version that's built into the binary image that loads onto your ASA. That's available here (requires a support contract for at least one ASA be associated with your cisco.com userid) if you don't already have it. Once that's setup on your ASA, browse to the ASA address authorized for http(s) acess with the /admin string after the address. i.e.:
https://192.168.100.1/admin

Hi Marvin, Thanks for your reply, I was able to download the files but my issue now is I cant seem to be able to open the bin file or adm-716.bin.cpgz, it goes in to loop, creating more copies of the same files, now I have tried to open with the default app, expander, etc which none of them work. what should I do?
Thanks in advance again
