In a Cisco 7206VXR router that has a NPE-300 and and I/O controller I undertand that the IOS is on a PCMCIA card which is installed on the I/O controller. Is the config also held on the I/O controller or is it held on teh NPe-300. When we put a NPE-G1 I understand that an I/O controller is not required and that the the IOS and config are held on NPE-G1.
To ask the question in another way - If we replace the NPE-300 module does the startup config need to be loaded into the new NPE-300?

I believe the NVRAM is stored on the I/O Controller on all NPEs except the G1 and G2.

This is related to the uBR7200, but for the most part it is the same architecture.
