Which System Image do I Need?

Some consultants told us that the IOS on our 6509-E is out of support and must be upgraded.  We are using 12.2(50r)SYS2.

I cannot figure out which file(s) I need to get to do this upgrade.  I am sure it will seem easy once I understand it but until then is there a document somewhere that explains which version and revision I need?

If it helps, the current image file is s2t54-advipservicesk9_npe-mz.SPA.122-50.SY1.bin

The image goes back to 2011, but that does not mean it is out of support.  As long as you have a service contact with Cisco and the image is available online, they will support it. Now, is that a good idea to upgrade a 6 years old image, I would say yes.

Looking at Cisco IOS download page, the latest version for sup-2T is

s2t54-adventerprisek9-mz.SPA.154-1.SY1.bin

Before upgrading to any version, make sure to read all the release notes for that version.

I quite agree that an upgrade is in order.  I was just confused as to which image file I needed.

Thank you.  The file names make more sense now.
