Hi
I have a cisco catalyst 4507R+E core switch that has been serving as DHCP in my network. I want to shift this role to a server, all configurations are set in the virtual server and ip helper-address is configured as well. But clients are not able to acquire ip address.
Static ip address is working.
What have i not done?

You have not given us much information to work with. So it is difficult for us to know what is the issue. As a start can you verify IP connectivity from the vlan/subnet where clients are located to the IP address of the server (as specified in the helper address)? Can you do an extended ping from the 4507 with the destination address as the server and specifying the source address as the vlan address of the switch?

ip connectivity from vlan to ip helper-address is working well and ping from 4507 to the server is successful.

As Richard says, more information is required.
It is now known L3 connectivity is ok, I would therefore look toward the server itself.
Is this a AD environment? If so the server requires authorization.

Are there any log messages on the server indicating any attempts received from the clients? Is it set up on the server as a super scope or as individual scopes for each network/subnet?
