WS-C2960X-48FPS-L 15.0(2a)EX5 ERRDISABLE CAUSE LOOPBACK, Is my switch faulty or is it just the IOS

aarcigagts
Level 1
Level 1

I understand or from what ive seen there is a bug in some version of the software for switches, is mine one of them?

I get errdisable cause loopback on ports  10, 22, 34, 46

I noticed the ports go on errdisable when I plug in my 12-port PoE tester, this tool testes 12 ports for poe at a time, when I put it in one section ports 1-12 it errdisables port 10 (ports 13-24 port 22 , ports... etc).

I tried enabling errdisable recovery cause loopback and it reenables the port but hten it errdisables it again, and then it goes on a loop of enabling and disabling.

Issuing no keepalive worked when I did it on those ports (10, 22, 34, 46)

it no longer puts the ports in errdisable, but I am wondering if this switch is faulty , considering the IOS version.

I noticed the pots go on errdisable when I plug in my 12-port PoE tester, this tool testes 12 ports for poe at a time, when I put it in one section ports 1-12 it errdisables port 10 (ports 13-24 port 22 , ports... etc).

Try upgrading the firmware of the switch to something more recent.

Im loading c2960x-universalk9-mz.152-4.E8.bin atm, i cant get a newer one but hopefully this one works

I managed to get the newest firmware on it, its still doing the errdisable

on those ports.

post got deleted due to spam lol,

i updated it with the most recent software and its still doing the same thing,

i attached the boot  as txt in case u wanted to take a look,

do you think its hardware related issue?

Ok, I'm seeing two ports:  Gi1/0/10 & Gi1/0/22.

Do the following:

test cable tdr interface Gi1/0/10
Wait for about 5 to 7 seconds
cable tdr interface Gi1/0/10

Post the complete output.

here is the output of that

Switch#test cable tdr interface Gi1/0/10
TDR test started on interface Gi1/0/10
A TDR test can take a few seconds to run on an interface
Use 'show cable-diagnostics tdr' to read the TDR results.

Faulty cable nearest the switch.

im a moron , the cable is visibly semi-torn, i suspected something like this when it was  the same port on every section that created the loop so i shouldve caught it earlier lmao,

thanks for the help bro.

On the contrary, no.  You now have a good idea how TDR works.
