WS C3560 48PS port issue

Hello all.

I have a c3560 that on Port 1 I can not get any device to talk to the DHCP server.

Previously there was a client connected to this port however over the weekend he stated he lost connectivity.

In my troubleshooting I have connected that client ot another port and now he is good to go...

I connected my laptop and tried to connect to the network however I could not.

I checked the logs and did not see anything that lead me to think it was having problems.

Checked the interface and it shows UP when a device is plugged into it.

I also did an Administrative shutdown on that interface and started it back up yet no luck.

As per above I did a shutdown command from Conf T on that interface and started it with a No Shut command.

Is there another way to shut this down and hopefully start it back up without having to restart the entire switch?

Do I have a bad port?

This switch is running SW Version 12.2(55)SE1 and SW Image C3560-IPSERVICESK9-M

What happens if you connect your laptop to this port and assign an IP to it.  Example your laptop 10.10.10.2/24 and the switch (make the port a routed port by issuing command "no switchport")10.10.10.1/24? Does the interface on the switch go to up and up? can you ping from PC to the switch and the other way around?

  Have you tried restarting the switch? Make sure that the port is in the correct vlan and that it has all the proper commands.

Hi I am actually the person who started this thread and I appologize for the delayed response.

Ok I tried what you had suggested and yet that port will not allow me to connect to any internal or external resource.

One thing I have noticed is there are 2 vlans configured on this switch.

Vlan1 is for the management interface/ip address and Vlan2 is for the phones/PC network

Here is how port 1 and port 2 on vlan 2 are configured Note thaat port 1 is the issue in our case.

In response to CityNational...no I have not restarted the switch and the reasoning for this is I guess I am affraid that if port 1 is acting silly I wouldn't want to replicate this on the others.

To add one thing I did notice is that port 1 even though it is in vlan 2 seems as if it can talk to only our Cisco Phone system which is in a total different IP address scheme.

I suppose I can reset the switch and cross my fingers that nothing more gets stupid.

Hi,

Once i faced same issue and changed the interface to its defaults "default interface FastEthernet0/1" and re-applied the same configs and it worked.

probably you might want to try that before planning to restart the switch.
