I have a WS-C4507R with two supervisors one of them is showing unknown for some time now but the switch is working fines except the uplink on the unknown started flapping recently ( it was working fine before even when it was showing unknown) showing alot of crc errors. can I remove it and re-insert it? or any suggestion without rebooting the switch? i have attached the show module screenshot

 - What is the status led on the supervisor module saying ? You can re-seat it (indeed) but attach a console first , follow up on messages shown on the console during this process and or potential self-test errors from the supervisor-module (e.g.)

The standby supervisor engine is probably in ROMMON because it is running a different firmware to the active supervisor engine.

true it is in rommon and the boot versions mismatch but how was the uplink port on it working? would an uplink on a  supervisor module in rommon work normally?

that is very strange as when i came to the site the module was unknown which was like 2 months ago and the link was up. Even god knows how long it was in this state and the link was up? please are you guys sure it wouldn't behave normally as i need to focus on the unknown state instead of the sfp and the layer 1 problem?
