I have a WS-X45-SUP8-E installed into a WS-C4510R+E chassis and I keep trying to boot from a usb to then copy the image over but it keeps running into a error thus "reloading" the sup and throwing me back into rommon again. I have also tried to TFTP the ios on it and conveniently it stops around 90% every single time. Any ideas? Thanks

Can you try this:
Rommon> reset
Rommon> boot usb:filename
and post output

Post the complete output to the following commands:
06-09-2021 09:35 AM
Here is the output;
rommon 2 >dir bootflash:
ExtX super block invalid signature
rommon 3 >set
PS1=rommon ! >
RommonVer=15.1(1r)SG5
ConfigReg=0x0102
I have also changed the confreg so it "ignores system config info" and reset then tried to boot, same outcome. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Try this:
confreg 0x2101
And then reboot the line card.
What is in slot 6? If this another supervisor card, what is the exact IOS version it is running on?

Your flash is dead, RMA the device.

I've got a 4507R+E chassis with this same exact problem(same errors, output, everything) with 2 WS-X45-SUP8-E doing this. Woudl the flash have died on both SUPs in the same way? Is there any way to use the SUP in this state(using a SD card)?

Console into the supervisor and reboot. Post the entire boot-up process so we can see what is going on with it.

Thanks for the reply, I have attached an attempt to boot normally, including trying to change some rommon variables with confreg, but rommon always boots with it's default configuration.
There is also a log booting from an admittedly old ios image from a SD card. I've tried several versions of ios both from tftp and sd card with the same results though.

There is no defined storage or not enough space available to save the crash file. Free storage space needed is 2215114 bytes Context registers for process 'snmp_subagent'
There are many things wrong with this setup:

The current rommon version is from 2014 which is why I was trying such an old firmware version. I get the same crash with any firmware version(have tried the latest).
How can I clear or view the crashinfo partition?
I am not able to get the config register to change between resets. Every time the sup boots rommon goes into default configuration.

In ROMMON, the command to change the config-registry is: confreg 0x2102
Next, it is not possible to boot, from 3.3.1, to 3.11.X without doing any ROMMON upgrade.

Is there anything I can reference that will tell me which ios I can boot with my current rommon version? From what I understand I need to be in the ios environment to upgrade rommon on these.
Thank you for your time so far, I appreciate it.
