xmodem copy ios

i have new 2960s switch

am not allowed to connect it to network before upgrade IOS

seems that i must use xmodem

problem is after file finishes copying to flash i get a i/o error from xmodem

and cannot do boot flash:newios.bin

what could the problem be?

I don't understand why you didn't connected your PC directly to your switch only (not to network yet) and did the upgrade much faster using stangard TFTP process? 

BTW this name "newios.bin" - i suppose it's only for forum message because there is no need for changing IOS name...

was interested to try xmodem for learning reasons ( ios is corrupt etc.)

+ direct to pc needs config of ip and passwords

Learning - great ... I thought it was something for production needs...

IP configs and passwords is also learning 

But whatever reason you find - keep the good work on!
