Solved: Re:C20 won't pair

Hi all,

We have a C20 installed in our office, it can make calls and everything just fine. We want to use the Touch to manipulate it, but even thouhg it recognizes the codec it asks for a user/password. We have the admin credentials to access the GUI and also a user account, we know they are OK because we can enter the GUI just fine.

But the Touch won't recognize those credentials and it will not pair with the codec. We've tried a hundred times...and it just won't pass through that request.

Any ideas?

I do not see any sshd related logins. I do not think the touch tries to connect. Hard to see what is going on.

Are there any current logfiles of the C20 to look at ?

It seems that it is off.

Hi David,

Perform a factory reset to the touch panel.
Tap and hold the exclamation mark fir 15 seconds and as soon as it lights up hit the mute buttin twice. It will rset the touch pad.

Try logging again. Let us kniw the results

Hi Ravi,

Thanks for the tip. I already knew the trick and tried it several times , it does not matter. I have also made sure that the codec is on pairing mode.

I am not sure if we should do everything in a specific order, I mean, turning the codec on, then resetting the Touch and so forth.

Perhaps an easy way to check is to enable audit logging.

In the file /var/log/audit.log I see this for a failed pairing due to wrong password and a good pairing :

And then reboot the codec for enabling the audit feature.

What do you see then in the audit log ?

As you already performed the factory reset . Now logs will gice us better information.
As Danny referenced the exact logs which can confirm one of the common issues happening.

Not sure what it could mean, I guess the second line (bottom to top) is telling me that it did not validate the password, do you have any suggestion?

Is SSH required to be enabled by the Touch? If so has it been confimed that SSH is enabled on the C20?

Once both of you started to mention SSH I just enabled it and tried again, it worked this time! I would never think that it only pairs if SSH is enabled, so only with secure conection .

The touch needs a secure connection.

The issue that you have been experiencing is normal when you

1. Disable ssh.

2. Use the non-encrypted TC software
