Can the CME router also be used as the videoconferencing Gateway in a small IPT deployment with a 3515 for videoconferencing? Or is an additional 3522 gateway always necessairy when communicating between IP and other (ISDN) networks?

Hi, you need the 3522 gateway, a cme router can act like a voice gateway but not like a videoconference gateway. Cisco voice gateways do not support the H.320 protocol suite or the H.26x family of video codecs For this reason, Cisco has a separate family of video-capable gateways like the 3522.

Hi,
As far as I am aware Cisco are intending to provide H.320 capabilities over ISR's. Here's a document if you want to take a look.
