hi all,
I understand that standalone EX90 with multisite license can do multiparty h323 direct calling via ip address.
I would just assign a public IP to the ex90 unit and enable h323 protocol, i can call the other h323 party
Can the ex90 does direct sip calling too without registering to a sip server? Ie standalone sip
If so, how do i do it?

If you do a search in these forums for "SX20 standalone SIP" you'll see many posts and discussions that do this, but with the SX20 endpoint, which operates very similar to the EX90.
In short, yes, you can do a "direct" dial with SIP - you just need to specify a proper SIP URI to dial to (endpoint@IPaddress or endpoint@domain.name).

Thanks for the update!
What do i need to configure on the sx20/ex90 unit then? Just configure public static ip address on "Network" tab and turn on SIP protocol instead of h323? Anything else that i need to configure on "SIP protocl"?
So according to your statement, my unit eg ex90@119.120.66.12 could dial to a user say joseph@cisco.com?
How would my unit understands cisco.com? Do i just need to point to public DNS?
And anyone could reach me by dialing ex90@119.120.66.12?

Keep H323 enabled on your endpoint. You need to configure working DNS addresses on your endpoint to reach and discover the "cisco.com" SIP domain.
On your H323 endpoint, if you are calling to an SIP endpoint via Expressway/VCS there should be no problem and it will interworked the call from H323 to SIP.

thanks for the info,
however my objective is using it as Standalone, without registering it to CUCM/EXPRESSWAY/VCS, that i have had it working flawlessly.
My question is just using it as standalone sip direct calling like the h323 ip add calling

Yes, you can configure your endpoint as standalone SIP without registering to any SIP server or Call control. Enable SIP service on the endpoint and give it a SIP URI. For example 1234@119.120.66.12.

Yes, you will need to point the endpoint to a valid DNS server (and preferably to a valid NTP server as well). The DNS server can either be on on your own site (as long as it is able to resolve address correctly), or an external one (ie 8.8.8.8 at Google).
Yes, people should be able to dial you at sx90@119.120.66.127 if that is the public IP address of your endpoint and all the appropriate firewall ports are opened.
I suggest you have a look through the list of "SX20 standalone SIP" posts I suggested previously - there is a lot of good information in those which will help you.
