Migrating TelePresence Management Suite (TMS) to a New Server

Hi - Our Client needs to upgrade the TMS legacy to a new TMS client server

Background/Scenario:

  • Existing TMS legacy server with Additional 25 Systems – to be upgraded to client version
  • There’s an existing 3 desktop users accessing the TMS within the same network.

 

I will provide the following and please confirm if these are within compliance with the requirements:

Server:

  • Intel Core I3 6100 3.7GHz, 3M cache, 2C/4T, no turbo
  • 16GB UDIMM, 2133MT/s, ECC
  • 1TB 7.2K RPM SATA 6Gbps 3.5in Hot-plug Hard Drive,13G

Software:

  • Windows Server 2012R2 Standard Edition,Factory Installed, No Media, 2 Socket, 2 VMs,NO CALs
  • Windows Server 2012R2 Standard, Media, FI Standard Ed Downgrade image
  • 5-pack of Windows Server 2012 User CALs  (Standard or Datacenter)
  • 5-pack of Windows Server 2012 Remote Desktop Services, User
  • Microsoft SQL server express

 

Questions:

  1. SQL server express will be sufficient to handle 70 to 100 phone book entries?
  2. SQL server express CAL required?
  3. Windows server 2012 users CALs for the 5 desktop users (within the same network) required?
  4. Windows Server® 2012R2,Standard Ed, Add License, 2 Socket and/or 2 VMs required with the existing scenario listed above?
  5. Do I in need Microsoft®SQL Server™2014 Standard, USER CALs for the 5 desktop users (within the same network)?

You should refer to the TMS Install Guides to see the recommended specs and versions of the Windows Server and SQL for the TMS version to plan on upgrading to.  The install guides also cover how to migrate your TMS from one server to another.
