Sorry for silly question. but I'm totally new to video conference.
we need to establish video conference between 4 sites. As far as I understand we need
- four endpoints (planning to use sx20)
- MCU (4501). I know about embeded multisite switch in sx20, but we need at least 720p
In some tech doc I've read MCU includes gatekeeper/SIP proxy. So the question is if VCS is necessary or we can achieve the goal using only endpoints and MCU?
Can we add any user with third party software endpoint (polycom t100 for example) to videoconference or we need to add some extra components to our solution.
Thanks in advanced for your help.

If four sites (where Endpoint install) have network connectivity (i.e. over VPN or all Endpoint with public IP address), you may deploy with 4501 MCU with 4 x SX20 without VCS.
However if any of SX20 will install behind firewall, then highly recommend to use VCS Expressway for handling traversal call connection.

Thanks for your reply. and what about software clients? As far as i understand if i extend solution with cisco video jabber i need to add vcs+tms+movi lic. but what if i want to use any other sw sip/h.323 client? what do i need to add in this case?

If you are planning to expand the VC network and including software client, highly recommend to deploy it with VCS.
VCS can be SIP register/proxy for Jabber Video client as well as standard SIP client (i.e. xLite).
VCS also works as H.323 Gatekeeper for standard H.323 video software client and HW Endpoint.
VCS support SIP/H.323 interworking call as well.
