I was wondering if anyone has had an issue with using Router on a stick with GRE tunnels, when sending IP video (MPEG4)?
The router on the stick is needed to make a tunnel across a non-multicast network.
Feeds are put into a 3750, which is trunked to a 7204 (NPE-G2).
using tools like Iperf no problems are found, however the way they are used is 65 small bandwidth feeds are sent over this link, however packets get dropped or go out of order.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Graham

Just a shot in the dark
I know that when I stream mpeg4 files that initially when the file is requested there is a large burst of data and after the initial hit a constant bit rate must be maintained for 100% seamless delivery.

yeah, looking at the profile on wireshark its very bursty/peaky. On closer inspection I can see output queue drops on the GRE logical interface.
The average is around 60Mb/s and the line is a 100Mb/s EPL, I can only assume it is bursting beyond 100. I have tried to implement shaping etc however it seems to make things worse.
Any suggestions?
