need advice for Tandberg Gatekeeper and border controller

I just bought a used gatekeeper and border controller, trying to reset them to access the serial port , the password needs to be reseted , anyone know how or a thread i missed to read.

the  answer by Justin was fine for the Gatekeeper, it's now working fine and need to be programmed inside my network and i need to learn why the border controller outside my network if i have a gatekeeper inside ??

part 2

well after resetting the gatekeeper with success, i tried the same with the border controller with no success at all, all i get is like a line space feed in the terminal ( attached a pic)
any suggestion anyone, if any of you can point me in the right thread to read,
i thank you in advance.

ps  if anyone can suggests a video to watch on how to setup the gate vs border vs modem vs firewall vs port forwarding etc ... trying to troubleshoot several telepresence endpoints in a home office use, any web suggestion so i can learn more about setups and theory, i have consulted on youtube and no specific video on this subjects can be found.

The attached teacher guides from way back when should explain how the Gatekeeper & Border Controller work and how to configure them.

You're unlikely to find videos on those specific products simply because of their age - Tandberg replaced the GK/BC with the VCS Control and Expressway in 2006. The newer products added SIP capability (what you have is H.323 only), more scalability, redundancy, etc. Cisco still posts a document from the Tandberg days on how the GK/BC work - this will help you understand why you need both:

That said - I'm sure you realize that if you have problems with what you bought these units are years past end of life, you won't get any support from Cisco TAC.

Hope this helps you!

yes, i realize these units are old, but for me it's a practical way of making a home lab at low cost and understanding, learning on this great collab solution. i'm a end user in the a/v business for clients and myself to communicate. I appreciate the help i get from everyone here , even if it's a small link or just a suggestions, your expertise is appreciated

If you want to learn more about the history of Tandberg's firewall traversal solution, google Tandberg and Ridgeway. TAA acquired Ridgeway in 2004 and incorporated their firewall traversal solution into their products - that is where the Assent protocol came from (which predates the H.460.18/19 firewall traversal standard that was based on Assent). You will find lots of information with that search.

Have fun!
