Password recovery on C/SX series (No PWREC)

Hi all,

Is it possible to reset admin password on C/SX series TC6.x and TC7.x?

I know "PWREC" user can reset admin password.

But it resets not only admin password but unfortunately also all configuration(=factory-reset).

In addition, SX20 don't have any console port, so if we forget admin password of SX20, that means, all we can do is factory reset.

(no root account for TC7.x now)

Best Regards,

Kotaro

  1.  The PWREC password recovery user has been removed due to security considerations. There is no way to recover the password, if it is lost the system must be factory reset. If physical factory reset is not possible it can be done via the web interface. It is also possible to log in via serial as a factory reset user.
  2. Connect a serial cable to the system at 38400, 8, N, 1
  3. Reboot the system
  4. Log in with the user "factoryreset". This user is only available a short period of time after reboot (in TC6 it is always available). When logging in with this user it is possible to do an xcommand systemunit FactoryReset Confirm: Yes.
  5. Do a reboot: "Xcom boot"
  6. The system is now factory reset.

If root account is enabled in TC 6.X, we can change the password using "userdb setpassword admin <passwd>" command. We cannot use this procedure from 7.X onwards

Thanks,

Deva G
