Depends on your requirements.
If you only want to use your video endpoints internally, CUCM will be sufficient.
If you got third party endpoints or want to do B2B calls, you need the VCS Control and Expressway.

Hi Lkayyali,
1. SX20 and C20 can use both VCS as well as CUCM as gatekepper for registeration. they can registered on VCS as h.323 as well as SIP unit. for CUCM they can be registered as SIP device. it depends upon the type of deployment in your network. if your network use CUCM then you can register SX20, C20 on CUCM for calls.
2. for native registration, C20 requires CUCM to be on 8.6.1 or later and SX20 requires CUCM 8.6.2 or later along with device pack for SX20.
3. steps to register the endpoint on CUCM, please find the document : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/endpoint/codec-c-series/tc5/administration_guide/cts_endpoint_administration_ucm86_quick_start_guide_tc50.pdf
4. SX20 and C20 should be on TC 5 or later for CUCM deployment.

- is it necessary to need to VCS control and VCS expressway with CUCM ? or CUCM enough ?
- what you prefer ?
