Hello,
Please find the attached for h323 and SIP.
I have installed SX20 and trying to register just as like a phone but it is not registering, I have read the documents on internet , saying that in SX20 we should configure H323 gatekeeper or SIP to register and also it shld be registered as a endpoint. Is it is a H323 gatekeeper or H323 gateway???
What i am suppose to fill in sip URI and authentication, and proxy address????
Thanks

Hi Clark,
1 - When you need to have conference involving local endpoints and endpoints located on internet, it is not a simple task, because there is some problems, such as NAT, firewall configuration, many public address, many ports to be opened, security issues and so on. To solve these problems, Cisco has a product called VCS Expressway. VCS Expressway is an H323 gatekeeper/gateway and SIP Registrar server. He has an especial feature to integrate your internal video conference environment with the internet. With VCS you can solve major of the problems related to make a video conference through internet. VCS offers firewall traversal and acts as border element to allow comunication between your local network and internet, providing security, decreasing the number of ports to be opened and demanding only a single public IP Address.
2 - If there is IP connectvity without firewall or NAT, you can estabilishes a SIP trunk between both CallManagers, so that endpoints can call each other dialling extension through this trunk.
With regards the Voice gateway, I didn't understand what you described. Do you want to establish a voice Call through ISDN? What is the Voice Gateway?

Hi Clark,
In this case, you dont need to configure H323 at all. SX20 register to VCS only using SIP.
When registering SX20 TO CUCM, you dont need to setup SIP configuration, CUCM is going to do that automatically. You must only to configure your system to use CUCM as the provisioning server. To do so, go to web page and choose on menu configuration the option External Manager. Configure as following:
1 - Go to Provisioning section and set Mode to CUCM. Click
ok to save the changes.
2 - Go to the ExternalManager section and the IP address
or DNS name of the External Manager of the Cisco UCM
cluster TFTP server in the Extermal Manager input field.
Click ok to save the changes.
Before to that, you have to create a new device for SX20 on CUCM configuration.
Please, refer to this guide to obtain more details:

Hi Clark,
1 - To have a conference via internet with another thirdparty telepresence systems you must to have Cisco VCS Expressway solution, it will allow you to call endpoints via internet. VCS is integrated with CallManager and it will alow your systems to call and receive calls from internet in an easy and security way.
2 - Are those another endpoints registered to some gatekeeper or CUCM?

Dear
I did'nt understood your 1 point can u elaborate more.
I want to dial within a city to another corporate to his SX20 not from the internet, the call will go through the Voice Gateway.
If they are registered to same gateway then i can dial thorugh local 4 digit extension but they are not, they will registered to different CUCM but i have a IP connectivity.

Very good Explanation.i have rated the above reply also
With regards the Voice gateway, I didn't understand what you described. Do you want to establish a voice Call through ISDN? What is the Voice Gateway?
for ex:
I am in australia and i want to make ISDN call to USA through SX20 as an endpoint, i can do that ??? please correct me ??
what special configuration i have to do for video on Voice gateway??????

Hi Clark,
In order to have video calls via ISDN, you must to have video ISDN gateway and a ISDN link with video enable, you cannot do it by using a common voice gateway and voice link.
Cisco provides some gateways ISDN for video that works very well:

hello Paulo,
I just changed to static Ip address on my SX20 and it lost connectivity with CUCM, the Ip address is within the range of CUCM, but when i revert back to DHCP it is registered.
I tried restarting the device when i moved to static but no success.
Thanks

If you cannot even ping when setting up a static IP Address on the codec, probably there is a network problem. I guess you should contact network team to have assistance.

Yes, also set call protocol to H323.
