Hello,
What is the difference of setting an endpoint to be track by mac address than ip address. How does that relate to static or dhcp ip address?

This is how TMS keeps track of this endpoint and identifies it.
In general, if the endpoint is set to DHCP then you should track by MAC address, otherwise the IP could move to another endpoint and TMS will get confused.
If the endpoint is static, then you can track by IP or MAC as neither should be changing.
I always recommend tracking by MAC for everything but infrastructure devices which should be by hostname if possible.
