Upgrading room kit pro

Hi All

We have a Cisco codec room kit pro, we would like to upgrade the software on it locally.

The device is currently registered to our CUCM, TMS etc.

The device is currently on version ce 9.13.3, I would like to move it to 11.20.2.3

Can I upgrade this locally from the old to the new software without any other interim versions? will it still work with the cucm after ?

cheers

@Wayne DeNardi , The Cisco release note for 10.19 mentioned the following:

"If you are using an older version of RoomOS 10 that does not support upgrading with large files or cop files ending in cop.sha512 (specifically, versions 10.15 and below), you should use the RoomOS 10.19.5 Step Upgrade file to upgrade to RoomOS 11."

If the device is on CE19.13.3, can we move directly to 11.20 without needing a step upgrade to 10.19? I have never tried this, and my understanding after reading the release note was that it requires a step upgrade to 10.19 before moving to 11.20. This is how I upgraded from version 9.14.3 after reading the release note. :).Looks like I wasted my time moving to 10.19.

Hi
If you are under support and can get to software.cisco.com you can locally browse to the codec you should be able to upgrade the code to higher versions.
Exactly what jumps you need to make from 9.13.3 to higher you will have to check the release notes here

You will need the RoomOS 10.19 StepUpg upgrade to move to RoomOS 11.20.

You can upload the file to the device using the GUI. The file can be downloaded from the Cisco portal using this link, provided you have a contract attached to your profile.

If the device is registered to your CUCM, it would be best to install the device pack on the CUCM, then have the CUCM upgrade it.

There is a risk if you update it manually than when it connects back to the CUCM, it will downgrade to the version that the CUCM has configured for that device.

Note: If you are upgrading manually, you don't need the "Step Upgrade" file mentioned by others when upgrading from CE9.13.3.  This is only needed when upgrading from a version prior to CE9.8.2.  The Step Upgrade was a workaround for older versions of the CE code that didn't support .pkg files greater than 1Gb in size, and only if performing a manual upgrade.  you will need to use the Step Upgrade file if you are upgrading from the endpoint's webUI, and if the endpoint is on a software release earlier than RoomOS 10.15 (due to the change in package format).  If upgrading from CUCM, or TMS, the previous 1Gb file size limitation is not relevant.

Thanks for this, will give it a go.

@Nithin Eluvathingal - Sorry, my mistake.  I had forgotten about the change from ".cop" to ".cop.sha512".   You are correct that the Step Upgrade would be required from anything below RoomOS 10.15 when performing a manual upgrade of a device.  I have made a tweak to my response to correct this.
