VCS CLUSTER ISSUE

Need some insight to fix a couple alarms on my two VCS cluster setup.

VCS's are running X8.5.1

Had five alarms on my VCS's

1. Replication no longer available.  Systems have 4ms between them.

2. Lost all user accounts less Admin ???   Strange ... Logs indicated no one has been in the VCS's

3. Master VCS admin account on the master was reverted to the default TANDBERG ??   (Alarm indicated that was the case).

Changed the admin password and re-created my user admin account on the Master.

4. The Peer 2 (Slave) VCS lost all user account but the admin password did not reset and the one I do have listed isn't working.

My associate was able to login to the peer 2 VCS even though her account isn't listed in the user list ???

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the Master restart now I have three alarms

a.  Unexpected software error was detected in ClusterDB: Unknown reason on the Slave ??

b.  There is a port conflict between the media port range (36000 - 47999) and the UDP ephermeral port range (40000 - 49999)  on Master

c.  Core dump mode has been changed, however a restart is required for this to take effect on Master

1.  Any ideas what might have caused the users accounts to disappear on the page???  I believe they are still in the VCS configured just can't see them.

2.  Will the restart on the Master clear the b and c alarms???

3.  Would a restart on the peer 2 (slave) clear the ClusterDB alarm ???

I can't restart until later tonight as calls are up on them both.

Oh finally where does one if at all change a core dump mode???

Thank YOU

Chet Cronin

Connect to the VCS via Telnet/SSH/Serial and log in as "root".

use the "selectsw" command to see what software partition it's currently using, then, if image1 is active, use the "selectsw image2" command to switch to the other, or vice versa, then reboot.

It sounds a bit like your "master" VCS crashed and came up on the old backup (and possibly unconfigured, or partly configured) partition.

You could try swapping back to the other partition and see if that works.  If that doesn't help, are you able to restore your VCS from a backup?

Thank you .. I believe your right about recovering on the other partition.  I lost all user accounts and the admin account password was the default.

I haven't performed that function ... what are the details to swap partitions for a restart??

Or should I just restore with my latest backup???
