I am looking at upgrading an old TANDBERG system. the SX80 looks like the logical choice, however the SX20 is much cheaper ?
What are the capability differences between them?

Suggest you take a look at the SX Series Data Sheets to know the differences between the two endpoints. In short the SX20 is a Quick Set system which allows you to easily turn a space into a video conference room, while the SX80 is an integrators system where you can incorporate it into any room or scenario.

Cisco's Endpoint Product Matrix is a good starting point to compare the different capabilities of each of the endpoints - Pages 4 and 5 are where you want to look for those two SX devices.
Depending on what your use case is, and what old Tandberg branded endpoint you were using with details on what other room kit (microphones, displays, other AV equipment, etc), it's hard to help with a more specific recommendation of what may be a better fir for your environment - depending on those requirements, one of the MX series endpoints may be a better choice.
