We have recently migrated our VC Infrastructure and during the process unfortunately when bring the servers back up our Entrypoint server has failed.
I was concerned although after testing it seems all calls are working ok internally and externally.
I have yet to confirm if all incoming calls will work as I have limited resource who can test.
Is anyone aware of the main purpose of the Entrypoint server and why Cisco has discontinued it's support.

There are four default services on the TANDBERG Entrypoint:
Direct Inwards Dialling (DID) –
Defines a one-on-one relation between an inbound and an outbound number.
Dial Extension (IVR) –
Also known as Interactive Voice/Video Response (IVR), defines a relation between an inbound number and an interactive service, i.e. a menu, via which an outbound service can be connected to. The outbound service can be an audio or video service or an externally connected endpoint.
Menu service –
A menu based call directory.
TMS Corporate Directory (phone book) –
A connection with the installed TANDBERG Management System (TMS) phone book is set up. Via the phone book menu an outbound call to another endpoint, e.g. a 3G Mobile, H.323 or SIP endpoint, can be set up.
The trade-in program offer was one Entrypoint swapped to one Codian IP Gateway and one Codian ISDN Gateway (if you had the ISDN option on your Entrypoint).
The TANDBERG 3G Gateway was a product designed only for Telepresence to hand-held devices over 3G data network (through PSTN).
Hope this helps,
Arne

Hi Hugh,
The Tandberg Entrypoint is a telepresence (ISDN) gateway for mobile data (3G with protocol H.324m support). So if you'd like to call from your endpoint to a mobile phone over video (or vice versa), you would need a Entrypoint gateway.
I have not heard of many using this gateway the last years, so that’s probably why Cisco took it out of life. The product was also released, so that Tandberg had the “Total Solution”.
I have made the release note for the Entrypoint available here, if you'd like to take a look:

Arne,
That is not correct. The TANDBERG Entrypoint was a similar product to the Codian IP Gateway. The Entrypoint's sole purpose in life was to be a menu driven phonebook for endpoints to call into.
The TANDBERG 3G Gateway was a whole nother product, had nothing to do with the Entrypoint.
The reason the Entrypoint disappeared was the aquisition of Codian. The Codian IP Gateway had better features and support, so it became the primary gateway for IP calls. Also TANDBERG offered a really nice trade-in program way back when, so a lot of people got rid of their Entrypoints and moved into a new Codian IP Gateway.
Thanks,
Justin

Hi Arne,
Thank you for all the information and I did read through the doc which has helped also.
I now understand more about the EntryPoint and lucky for me we're just starting to use IPAD's over 3G to make calls.
Our EnrtyPoint is not yet fully configured so I may need to get our Vendor to provide assistance with the configuration.
Regards
Hugh
