Hello,
I have a problem with restore system from backup on VCS SW version X7.2.2. When I want to restore system from backup I get an error
System error: System restore configuration data invalid or missing.
I tried to downgrade VCS Cluster from X.7.2.2 to SW version X7.1. Before downgrade I did backup of both peers. Later after perform some tests, I've upgraded VCS back to X7.2.2 and wanted to restore system from backup created before downgrade. But it's not possible, I just get error mentioned above, it's same on both peers. Even when I'm create a fresh backup and imediatelly try to restore from this file, I get same error. Backup file looks good, I tried to Restore system from this file on virtual machine, and it was restored correctly.
Do you have any idea what could happen and how to fix this issue?
Thank you

Hi Marek, have you tried re-installing the VCS respective software on the failing device and try restirong the valid backup of the same software version ?

Have you tried to break up the cluster and upload the backup file to individual VCS?

Hello,
Thanks for your response. Yes, I've disbanded Cluster, removed peers from the cluster and tried restore peers individually, but result is same.

there could be a problem with the collected backup. I have seen this problem before. Although it looks like the backup is in good shape, but somehow it's no acceptable by VCS. so in that case, I collected a second backup. But try to upload the backup file on to another VCS (a none cluster member) with the same version number, to see whether that VCS accept the backup configuration. if you don't have another VCS to test with, you can send me the backup file and upload it to one of our lab servers and let you about the outcome.

Hi Ahmad, Mahesh
Ahmad, I've tried it already, I've installed because of this new VM with same SW X7.2.2 and tried to restore my backup there. It was succesfull so backup file looks good.
Anyway, I've tried to remove non-master peer from the cluster, issued commands xcommand DefaultValuesSet Level: 2 and xcommand DefaultLinksAdddad on this VCS. After that I've reinstalled SW X7.2.2 again and tried to restore backup against fresh instalation. And now it's working. Tomorrow I will try same with master VCS, hope It will work as well.
Thanx
Regards
Marek.
