It is quick and easy to create a virtual network in very little time and with little or no physical infrastructure. But is seeing a diagram with a couple networks connected with routers, switches, and firewalls sufficient? Of course not, you need to drive some traffic through it to make sure it really works. Not to worry, today DevNet launched the TRex microsite. TRex is an open source traffic generator fueled by DPDK. In stateful mode, it can generate client and server side L4-7 traffic based on pre-processing and smart replay of real traffic templates. In stateless mode, it can generate multiple streams at line rate and calculate statistics per stream/per interface. Check it out and let us know what you think!
