Hi,
My client just performed the integration of their Alcatel 4400 PBX system with the Unity 4.0(3). Things are working fine and voice mails can be left on the suvbscribers' email accounts on the off-box Exchange 2003. However, when I tried to perform the released transfer and supervised transfer from Phone A to Phone B through the Unity system, the system seems like to use the same analog port to perform dial out and there is no call on-hold at all. Here are the details:
Subscriber of Phone B has enabled the supervised or released transfer feature
1. Phone A 1503 (unknown number) -> Unity analog port 1
2. Phone A 1503 key in the DN of Phone B 1504 by using 1504#
3. Unity played the transfer prompt
4. Phone A 1503 heard some DTMF tone of 1504 on the line instead of call holding. Seems like the Unity is using the analog port 1 to dial out to extension 1504.
5. There is the busy tone heard on Phone A and the call is hanged.
I would like to know how to configure the Unity such that the system can place the call on hold on analog port 1 and try to place call through another analog port which allows the outgoing call?
Many thanks,
---

Dear all,
I found that the Unity system could not trigger the transfer function to the Alcatel PBX system. According to the Switch configuration tools on the Alcatel0002.ini, the Unity uses the "&," to trigger the Transfter Initiate. According to the DTMF tone returned on the Alcatel Phone, I found that the Unity could not trigger the transfer to get the call hold on the existing line and the system would keep on sending out the digits and busy tone is returned.
So I wonder that if "&," is the correct code to trigger the transfer initiate? If not, what is the correct one?
Cheers,

The & is used to represent a hookflash. Typically to perform a transfer on an analog line one would...
- perform a hookflash,
- wait for dialtone,
- dial digits for the transfer target,
- wait for ringback (or connect)
- place the line onhook (assuming release transfer)
It sounds like your PBX either is not recognizing the hookflash or requires some other means to initiate the transfer. If you believe hookflash is correct (test this by plugging the line into a standard analog phone and perform the transfer manually) then you might try increasing the duration of the hookflash performed by Unity. The switch ini file should have a parameter HookFlashDuration. This is in milliseconds. Try increasing the value in steps of 50 or 100 ms. You'll need to restart Unity for HookFlashDuration changes to take effect.

Hi Eric,
I did try to increase the HookFlash Duration to 1000ms but still not working after rebooting the server. In fact, I did change the & to B9 and found that the Unity server did try to trigger the transfer as I heard the DTMF tone B9. So I wonder that if & is not the corresponding hookflash for Alcatel PBX, what is that? According to my client's Telecom expert, they said that there would have no other way to trigger the hookflash through the signalling. Is that right? If so, what can I do then?
THanks,

Hello Raymond,
Could you please get for me the logs I have requested and attach them to the TAC service request 600376677 and open up both the statusmonitor and integration monitor and reproduce the error and send this info to me too.
Hopefully from the above info we might find out what could be wrong on this case.
Thanks!
