Backing up a Cisco CUCM VMWare

Hi All

We currently have 2 Cisco servers running VMWare 6.5 these host our pub, sub, voicemail and presence servers.

Currently we back them up from the Cisco DR webpage.

However, is it possible to perform a snapshot of these using Vcentre? and would that snapshot actually work if we had to rebuild the server hypervisor etc? has anyone done this?

Cheers

Carl

Yes that would be the normal approach for situations like that.

Hi Jaime

looking at the link, it looks like you cannot do vm snapshots.

is there any other way of backing it all up? It looks like you would need to rebuild TT whole VMware server by the looks of it?

cheers

You can copy the VM for some products, with the caveat, that in order to do so, you would need to shut it down in first place. It's also explained in the same link.

Never do snapshots with any Cisco UC products. It will give you o-so many hours of trouble and unforeseen issues.

Hi Roger

So would the normal thing to do if a complete loss of a VM host be to rebuild the whole system from scratch and then do a restore using DR?

Cheers

Yes that would be the normal approach for situations like that.
