Hello.
Thru VG 248 when one remote application is sending the telegraph messages to the modem which is connected to a host the call is not getting connected. We can here the handshaking voice from the modem but it is not getting connected. In the mean time if we try it with a direct line (Without VG) it is working perfectly fine. Any ideas?

make sure you have a good connection on the back of the vg248 to your patch panel. It sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere. The amphenol cable can sometimes not be seated correctly on the device. Push it on really hard, make sure it's velcro'd in tight and try again. Possibly also, try punching it down to a different port on the vg248. For instance, if you are using port2 on the vg, try the opposite end, port22.

Hi Vinod,
Just to add a note to Tcat's good ideas here;
The VG248 supports modems, which connect using pass-through mode. Using pass-through mode, modem traffic is transported over a channel similar to that used for a voice call. The modem pass-through channel uses G.711 and has the VG248 echo canceller and high-pass filter disabled to prevent interference with the tone-based signalling used by modems.

From this good doc;
Hope this helps!
