HI
We are planning to transition IP Phone devices from one cluster 7.13 to another cluster running CCM to 7.1(3) there will be an Inter-cluster Trunk between the clusters. There are 180 IP phones. What is Cisco best practice?
Thx for all of your support

It really depends on the setup between the two clusters. If the naming conventions for phone configurations (device pools, CSS, etc) are the same and can be reused then you could export the phone/user data and import it into the other cluster via BAT.
If they are not, it's likely cleaner to build the configs you need (you could use the import/export function but you would have to look at all the files and change cluster-specific dependencies to clean files up) and then simply BAT in the phones/users.
If you are basically just moving phones to a new cluster, there's not too much involved unless you are building out new tenant configurations on the new cluster (i.e., option 2).
Also, check firmware between clusters. If the new cluster has updated firmware, load it on the old cluster and upgrade the firmware on the phones being moved BEFORE you swap clusters. It will make your life easier.
Of course in both scenarios, you need to remember to change the DHCP Option 150 to the new cluster Publisher (or TFTP server, whichever it is) so the phones that are moving will pick up the new TFTP address. You'll then need to reset the phones. Just watch RTMT on both clusters to account for all the phones moving over.

Hello David
Thx you for a quick response.
Based your recommendation perhaps I will do the following:
· configurations (device pools, CSS, etc) on the second cluster for upcoming site
· perhaps use Bulk Admin \ Phone \ Export Phone \ Specific details into a CSV file
· Upload the file via bulk admin on the second cluster & use phone migration option to submit the upload.
The question I have what about migrating voicemail subscriber. Any idea?
Thx for your help

You didn¹t mention VM so is this Business Edition or do you have Unity or Unity Connection running in a standalone fashion?

You can use COBRAS to migrate subscriber data. If you're not familiar
with COBRAS, start by reading the help file at www.ciscounitytools.com and
I can answer most questions from there.

You meant COBRAS Import for Connection 7X
12-10-2010 07:34 AM
You will need both actually. You need Export on your current system and
then Import the new system...but yes, COBRAS for Unity Connection. I've
used it more times than I can remember.

You need to load the Informix drivers on a Win XP or Windows 2003 server
first. You also need to enable the DB Proxy service on CUC and then START
the service. Remember, if you reboot - this service doesn't auto-restart
for security purposes. From your workstation, you should also go to the
admin page for the server and install the certificate before you connect.
Also, you need to add the "Remote" administrator role to the user that
you are trying to login with.

Was able to load the Informix drivers on a Win XP however I'm not clear about DB proxy , do u mean the Connection Database Proxy services which need to be active on CU Connection ? Also regarding the Certificate install. if you give more detail
Thx

Yes, DB Proxy service must be active. User must have remote access role.
Certificate is not required, I just find it helpful.
Did you read the Help File? You really should before you jump into it.
