COBRAS Import

Hi All, Trying to do a COBRAS import and is failing with the message import due to SMTP login or suchlike. I'm a bit lost on why SMTP is required when we are not integrated with exchange and what do I have to do to overcome this - I have done the settings on SMTP server - allow connections from untrusted IP addresses etc.

Any thoughts on this please?

Thanks

The SMTP here is the SMTP drop folder on Connection's server - it has nothing whatsoever to do with Exchange or interactions with 3rd party messaging systems.  Messages are put into the drop folder for Connection where they are picked up and delivered to the recipient(s) they're targeted at.

Can you give us a bit more detail than "due to SMTP login or suchlike"? Was there an error dialog or an error indicated in a log file you can provide to work with?

Hi well at step 47 of 47 just before it starts to import the users, i get the following message :-

"Messages are selected for restore, however the account you are logged in as failed to allow COBRAS to attach to the connection system using SMTP. Either unselect the option to restore messages or ensure the SMTP functionality is working correctly on the server and that port 25 is not being blocked and try again"

Thanks

if you've configured the SMTP server to match what's in the help as you've said the most common issue there is an AV package blocking port 25 - I've seen that a lot.

COBRAS is simply opening and SMTP connection to Unity on port 25 using a very common SMTP library - nothing fancy.  It's possible the SMTP service itself is down but not likely (your system would be having other problems).  It's more likely that it's not allowing connections from your client system - if you've configured it to allow connections from untrusted (i.e. non white listed) IP addresses, not require authentication and to turn off transport security then the most likely issue is the port itself is being blocked. More often than not when I run into that it's because of an AV package on the client system.

not sure if it will help anyone, but when i got this error it was because in the smtp configuration, under server, i didnt have the "allow connections from untrusted ip addresses" checked. i would assume there's a spot to add your ip addy to the server as trusted, but the quick fix was to check the box, and then uncheck it after the cobras was complete.
