Hello all,
I have a customer with a new, valid UCSS contract, although I do not know what it is at the time.
It is my understanding that the UCSS gives entitlement to major upgrades, this case CCM 4 to 8, Unity 4 to Connection 8, etc.
I am trying to order their upgrade media and PAK codes using the PUT tool.
I was given a bunch of contract numbers to use and was told that they are all associated with my CCO account.
The problem though is that none of these contract numbers are getting me to the ordering screen in PUT.
Can someone please tell me what the correct one should be?
Is there a specific service level code i am looking for? How can i tell which contract is the one for this UCSS?
I see service levels of SNTP,SAU, ISV1,ESW for these various contract numbers.
I entered the ESW contract and this error returned:
Cannot find the service level [UCSS] Contract for this [ESW] contract.
Please enter an [UCSS] contract and submit your request again.
please help!

Hi Stephen
Ahh. UCSS. I almost love this as much as I love working out Cisco licensing for UC products.
Ok. Here's how it works.
The error message you are getting is telling you that UCSS has not been activated onto the ESW contract. You need to find the PAK key that you received when you ordered UCSS. You then need to register this PAK key (www.cisco.com/go/license) onto the ESW contract. Once this is done, you will be able to use this contract number in PUT.
Word of warning, it can take a week or more for the UCSS team to process your request. There is an email address where you can contact them in urgent situations which you will receive when you register your PAK key.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I did some research and based on the sales order number i only found a PAK code for Product number L-UCSS-CCX, which I believe would only allow for upgrades to the Contact Center Express.
I see there are top level part numbers L-UCSS-UCM and L-UCSS-UNITY on the ordering guides, but dont see these.
In order ot activate the UCSS onto the ESW contract do I need PAK codes for each one of these Applications?

Hi Stephen
Yes, that is correct. You will need an ESW contract and UCSS PAK key for each product. You can have multiple products on a single ESW contract, but you will also need UCSS for each product that you want to order upgrades for.
L-UCSS-CCX is indeed UCSS for CCX.
In summary, your ESW contract must include support for CUCM and you also need UCSS for CUCM as well.
On another note, as you are upgrading from v4 to v8, you will also need the Cisco Sales Order numbers for your handsets to prove you have bought licenses for them. Cisco licensing will need these SO numbers before they will generate the new handset license files for your new CUCM servers.
Another summary:
ESW/UCSS will provide you with the CUCM Server v8 license file(s)
Proof of purchase of handset licenses at v4 will get you the v8 handset license files.
If you can't get the SO numbers for the handset licenses, you won't be able to get the v8 handset license files and the handsets won't work.
HTH. Barry
