So, I am in the process of setting up a development/lab environment for UCCX 10.5, talking to a 10.5 CallManager that also services a UCCE 10.5 dev/lab environment. I have done the install for the UCCX machine, and when I run the web appAdmin page for the initial configuration, it balks on the screen where it you enter the address of the CUCM server and the AXL user name/pw with a pop-up box saying:
"Cisco Unified CM Authentication Failed because AXL Service possibly disabled/stopped. Please check the Cisco AXL Web Service on Cisco Unified CM"
I then go over to the web admin page for the CallManager, Unified Serviceability -> Tools -> Control Center - Feature Services. Scrolling down to the Database and Admin Services section, it shows Cisco AXL Web Service Status: Not Running, Activation Status: Activated. I select the service, click the Start button, the page does the "Loading, please wait." for a bit, then it refreshes with the message "Cisco AXL Web Service Service Start Operation was Successful" at the top, but the service is still listed as "Not Running".
Has anyone bumped into this before, where this service just does not want to start? Any ideas as to what I should check? Any specific logs I should pull with the RTMT tool?
Thanks in advance!

You may try a few things:
>> Deactivate the service and then reactivate it
>> Check for any core dumps using "utils core active list" on cucm
>> Reboot the server, if it does not work then download the recovery iso of cucm 10.5.2 from cisco.com and try to run a recovery for file system errors. Sometimes such issues are fixed by recovery iso
If its still not working you may contact TAC.

Thank you very much, Manish!
Your first suggestion was all it took - just a deactivate & reactivate. I can only guess that something went arwy the first time it was activated and I just did not notice until I tried to hook up the UCCX machine.
Again, thanks for your help!
