CUCM 12.5(1)SU3 Smart License with Satellite - cannot enable Cisco Cloud Onboarding

Hi all,

Have anyone successfully enable Cisco Cloud Onboarding (for APNS) on CUCM 12.5(1)SU3 which has Smart Licensing with on-Prem Satellite server?  Any tricks?

If I set the CUCM Smart Licensing Transport Settings to "Direct", I can enable Cisco Cloud Onboarding successfully.
But, if I set the CUCM Smart Licensing Transport Settings to "Transport Gateway", which is an on-premises "Smart Software Manager satellite", and follow the same steps to enable Cisco Cloud Onboarding, it failed.

(Note 1: Smart Licensing via Satellite is fully function well.)

(Note 2: My CUCM can direct access to Internet.  CLI "utils network connectivity fos-a.wbx2.com 443" command return "Service accessible".

 - When I click Generate Voucher, it prompt "Voucher Generation Successful"

 - Then, I check "Enable Push Notifications" (together with "I want Cisco to manage the Cisco Cloud Service CA Certificates required for this trust", and click Save, it prompt "Cisco Cloud Onboarding Pending. ..."

 - I leave this configuration page and come in again, it prompt "Push Notification/Activation Code Onboarding Settings cannot be configured because the required voucher has not been generated in License Manager. ..."

Is it a restriction of CUCM with Smart License satellite?

Best regards,

E.Tse

We have this working in our system landscape with the same version that you're on. The difference I see from you setup is that our CMs can not access internet directly, they have to do that via a proxy and our on-prem SSM also uses a proxy to communicate with the CSSM.

Hi Roger,

May I know which version of Satellite Server you're using at your setup?

Any trick when you deploy the Satellite?  Have you aligned the Virtual Account name of the Satellite serving your CUCM and the CSSM?

Best regards,

E.Tse

Hi E.Tse,

We use the current newest version. When we did the upgrade to UC12 about a year and a half or two years ago we used two or three versions lower.

No special setup as far as I can tell. We do use similar names for the virtual accounts, but not exactly the same.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your info.

Based on your successful experience, I've tried again.

I re-register the Satellite Server to CSSM and re-register my CM12 to the Satellite, and finally got Cisco Cloud Onboarding success.

Best regards,

E. TSE

Glad to hear that you got this to work.
