CUCM and Unity Connection Version 8.6

Karl Archibald

Level 1

Having problems with an Auto Attendant application.  AA setup and when the route point is dialed directly from a telephone it operates as expected.  When a phone is forwarded to the route point and the forwarded phone called the caller gets the open tree from the Unity Connection and not the AA.  Partitions and calling search spaces checked, also compared to the same setup using version 8.5 that works well and can not spot a problem.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you using a System Call Handler for you AA functionality?

Call Handlers, unlike Directory or Interview Handlers, get referenced by direct or forwarded calls automatically.  The latter two need manual configuration of Routing Rules, either Direct or Forward or Both, in order for CUC to route to them.

In your failed scenario though, you are routing from Phone A to Route Point B, in which case CUC will be looking for Phone A's extension as the mailbox to land the call on.  Not Route Point B.

This is the same rule for the following scenario: John forwards all of his calls to his coworker Sally.  when John receives a call, it rings Sally's phone.  And when Sally does not answer, the call rolls to VM.  The caller hears John's greeting.

Does Phone A have a voicemail profile defined?  Does Phone A's extension exist as a mailbox in CUC?  If no and/or no are your answers then that would explain why you are hearing the Opening Greeting.

There is a parameter setting to change this default behavoir but it's system wide, and for most cases you want it to function the way it is today.
