Hello All,
I am in the process of upgrading our CCM 4.1(3)to CUCM 6.1(2). I ran the CallManager Upgrade utility tool to detect the health of the servers and it failed one of the tests, 'Software Version Validation', following are the logs for the failed test,

08-22-2008 07:25:25.657:VersionChk:INFO:CSQLVersionChecker::Validate, MSSQL version has correct value ('8.00.761')
I understand the current OS service release (2000.4.2sr6) is not supported for the upgrade. I need to update it to 2000.4.2sr10 before going ahead with the upgrade. Can someone please assist as to how can i upgrade the service release?
Regards,
Esteban

no, there is no need to upgrade the OS for the upgrade, the real requirement is to have CUCM 4.1(3) or 4.2(3)
in any case, if you still want to upgrade to that SR just download the exe file and execute the file on server.

Hi Java,
So do you mean that DMA backup will not fail if i leave the OS Service release as 2000.4.2sr6?
In case of running the exe file, do you know what will be involved? I'm trying to determine how long it will take, what will change, etc?
Your help is much appreciated,
Cheers,

no
that cannot be determined as it's server dependant and also at what time, load, etc
prepare at least 1 hour per server to install this

Hi Java,
Thanks for responding again. I have a Unity box 4.2 for voicemail connected to the CCM cluster. Will i need to upgrade any of the TSP drivers if i upgrade the service release?
Anything else i need to take into consideration?
Much appreciated,
Esteban

yes, only upgrade the TSP

Hi Java,
One more thing, can you confirm if the phone's firmwares will need to be upgraded manually? We use mainly IP communicators and 7960 phones. Other features we have are attendant console and IPMA. I want to be sure before running the .exe file with the new SR.
Much appreciated,
Esteban

not sure what you're talking about since you mention .exe with new SR, OS SRs do not contain phone firmware, so if you plan do upgrade the firmware before going to 6 then yes, it's manually. download and install .exe firmware upgrade on TFTP servers and reset phones
CUCM 6 also has AC and IPMA, config is a little different though. i'd recommend you to go thru the config guides to read the whole process

Sorry for the confusion... I was talking about the .exe for the SR OS (win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-2sr10.exe). I understand i need to upgrade the firmware on the phones before going to 6. My questions here are about the service release upgrade. I will do this before attempting to upgrade it to 6. You said before that to upgrade the SR OS i need to run the .exe (win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-2sr10.exe) on each server. Is there anything else apart from that to have CCM back to normal operation after the SR OS upgrade? so don't worry about the firmware loads and TSP drivers?

as i already mentioned, OS has nothing to do with TSP or firmwares, all that is related to CUCM
