Hi Guys,

I have deployed CUPC 8.5.3.19248 on Win 7 32 bit, however , when the user login it comes up with windows installer thing for a seconds and then it

crashes (users don't have local admin rights)

When I login as administrator on the PC, CUPC works just fine!

Thanks

Aamir

I've had a similar experience, though our users do have administrative rights on the PC, so my "fix" might not work for you. At any rate, I found that the user who installed CUPC ("User A") would run it fine, but another user (User B) had to right-click and do "Run as Administrator." Finally, I discovered that during the install, when the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) is installed, and certmgr.exe is apparently dropped in the %temp% folder of User A. When User B logs into CUPC, it tries to fire off certmgr. exe but can't. By letting User B have permission to the %temp% folder of User A, then User B could run CUPC without doing "Run as Administrator." In the future, I just plan to install CUPC when logged in as "User B".

Hope that helps.

Thanks much appreciated, i'll give it a go

cheers

Well... in testing yesterday, that certmgr.exe seemed to be a critical piece of the puzzle. But this morning, after posting my reply, I went to put my findings into production on an actual user's PC... and now it is working differently! Run as Administrator is still working for my User B, but it does seem that it shouldn't be necessary, as User A can still run CUPC without doing anything special. Stay tuned for more developments as they occur...

Hi,

This issue is resolved in the latest ES. Or you could wait for CUPC 8.5(4) which will be available next week.
