Hi all.

I have read that we can have atmost 4 CPEs in a cucm cluster, but then cucm can only convey primary secondary and ternary servers to phones. So in case i have 4 servers (that are call processing servers) how will the phones know about the 4th one ?

Hi John

You woudl define at least two 'CallManager Groups', which assign three different servers to the phones (by setting the two CMGs on two Device Pools, and assigning half the phones to each device pool).

For example, if you had 1 Publisher, and 3 subscribers... you may choose to have subscribers A and C as the 'primary' in each CMG, and then have subscriber B as the 'secondary' server in each CMG. You then have full resilience in the case of either A or C failing.

Aaron

Dear Aaron,

can you also refer me any cisco doc that describes what you have told. Your answer is very clear i just want to read more about such design issues.

Thanks

A Cisco Unified Communications Manager Group specifies a prioritized list of up to three Cisco Unified Communications Managers. The first Cisco Unified Communications Manager in the list serves as the primary Cisco Unified Communications Manager for that group, and the other members of the group serve as secondary and tertiary (backup) Cisco Unified Communications Managers.
