We have a cluster, pub.company.local and sub.company.local, with DNS client enabled. We now are adding two new subscribers.
However, the company.local domain is being depreciated, and we are migrating over to company.com. Can we add the two new subscribers with the FQDNs of sub2.company.com and sub3.company.com? Can their DNS clients point to a different DNS server (each domain can do lookups on the other)? Or could we deploy the two new servers without the DNS client.
We do plan to change the domain on the original servers, but that project is months out, while the need for the two new subscribers is immediate. Any ideas on how to proceed appreciated.

The servers can be named in another domain and I think that it is possible to set the DNS servers differently on each server. However I’m not really sure on the later. You’d need to test it out to verify.
Although this configuration doesn’t really affect the domain that is used for user facing services. That is an all together different topic.

I was able to add the new subscribers using the new DNS domain. So far all is good.
