We have an issue with DiRT running automatically. The backups work fine if we try them manually; however, we come across an Event ID 8012 as described in this MSFT Kb article > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306342/en-us
That article mentions that System Manager is a problem. I know that we use this Exchange tool during the install but if it's causing our backups to fail could we un-install it?
As a side question, why do we assign permissions on the Unity server if this tool is also available on the Exchange box? (We are running voice messaging only).
Thank you,
Erik

Couple things here.
First, DiRT does not use NTBackup.exe - it backs up the SQL databases related to Unity, captures some registry and local file information (i.e. for greetings) and uses ExMerge (optionally) to do message backups. So that article would not relate to DiRT running unless you've scheduled some other task.
System Manager is required for clients to gain access to the message store information - it needs to be installed. If you don't have it there, Unity will not function properly.

We seem to have tripped over Terminal Services. When we schedules the job through a VNC client it worked.
Thanks Jeff!
