How to Upgrade IP Phone firmware from 6.0 to 9.4(latest)?

Dear All,

Our customer are moving from CUCM 6.0(1) to CUCM 10.5 as new install on new machine.

Our concern is on Existing IP Phone that have to register with new CUCM 10.5.

Is there any step on how I can upgrade IP Phone firmware from 6.0 to 9.4(latest)?

Do I have to upgrade CUCM from 6.0 to 7.x, then to 8.x along with devicepak?

Or can I just upgrade firmware of IP Phone itself? How can I do this?

You need to review the RNs for each FW and if there is a need for a minimum FW for the phones to be running before the upgrade, you might need multiple steps due to that old FW, you need to work your way backwards from the release you want to end up with, and read the RNs for all intermediate FWs you'll need .

Then start installing the FWs and updating the phones, most FWs will be backwards compatible, or you'll at least get to a level where you'll be able to upgrade CUCM to a recent version.

Is there a way that I can upgrade IP Phone FW without CUCM? Plase provide the step.

My plan is to upgrade IP Phone FW offline(without CUCM) until it can be connect to new CUCM 10.5 without having to migrate CUCM too.
